The Northern Ireland Foundation has among its goals to realise a shared and better future in Northern Ireland.
An important objective is to increase active citizen participation in Northern Ireland, through advertising and recruiting volunteers and supporters for projects with a goal of a shared and better future.
Specific objectives include:
The Northern Ireland Foundation is embarking on this mission with partner organisations in core functions of volunteer agency and online media. For example, a well-established online volunteer matching and promotion service is provided by Idealist.org, which offers ready-made collaboration tools and has a global outreach.
The vision is to generate an exciting dynamic among new activists, whether younger or older, to increase expectations of what our society can achieve, and that a shared and better future becomes the working norm.

The Northern Ireland Foundation has partnered up with the Ulster Business School at the University of Ulster, to support an exciting new advanced diploma course in Civic Leadership and Community Planning.The programme is for elected members and officers in district councils, officers in statutory agencies, and representatives from the community and voluntary sector.
